Friday Five: It's a Celebration, B*tches!

Since I'm back on the blogging wagon, I thought I'd throw out a little fun one from the Friday Five folks. Actually on a Friday! It's a miracle.

This batch of questions are all about celebrations and parties. But first things first: would you come to my fictional President's Day Bash? And speaking of presidents, do you think I should get bangs like Michelle Obama? Think about it.

 Ok, here we go:

  1. When did you last blow up a balloon? Wow, I have no idea. I'm not a birthday party clown.  This makes me think of an episode of The Soup that had a clip of a guy with a sexual addiction to balloons. How does that even happen?  Since we don't have kids yet, there isn't a big abundance of balloons in our lives. Does paying someone to blow up a balloon count? Because even that was over a year and a half ago when we picked up farm-themed balloons for our nephew Jackson's birthday party. I'm not a big balloon fan, but now I kind of want to learn how to make balloon animals. Wait, I didn't mean that in a creepy way.
  2. Whose house is especially well-designed for parties, and why? My friend Caroline's new house is perfect for parties. The main level, dining room, kitchen, living room, it's all one large open space, with clearly defined areas but no walls cutting the space down. And wood floors for easy clean up when an adult spills a drink or a kid drops a birthday cupcake. Though I gotta say, her neighbors have one of the best backyard party spaces I've ever seen in real life. Just staring at it jealously from across her yard I think, "Man, how do we get invited over there?" It looks like a swanky hotel pool cabana  complete with Mediterranean blue pool, glam fire feature and buff pool boys. Ok, I made that last part up. Caroline, I think you need to have another party. Soon. With pool boys. And maybe some cupcakes.

About to get our early birthday cupcake action on!

  3. If the party starts at seven, what time are you there? Do I know people at this party? Am I going alone? 7:30? Is this a trick question? I'm not even sure what fashionably late means anymore. Since most of our friends have kids meeting for dinner at 5:30 seems normal now and everyone's on time or early since they escape as soon as the sitter arrives.
  4. Who brought the best thing to your last potluck? It's been awhile since we had a potluck at our house, but our work Thanksgiving potluck was pretty excellent this year. Someone made homemade macaroni and cheese with green chilies and it was a revelation.
  5. Now that the holidays are over, what (besides a birthday) might be the next thing you celebrate in the company of others? All I can think of are birthdays, my mom's, my husband's, a few friends, or maybe we'll go all out and throw a huge President's Day themed bash. Abe Lincoln cake pops and make everyone wear white wigs and false teeth like George Washington? Would you come to that? I would.
Ok, go off and celebrate the fact that it's Friday! I'm going to sit over hear and think about bangs. They always seem like a good idea, until you actually get them. I think even Michelle Obama might regret them.
